A two span continuous concrete girder is subjected to a post-tension force P at both ends. The girder will be post-tensioned prior to the placement of the concrete deck and finishings, which the girder will be supporting. The permanent action is 24kN/m including the finishing (excluding the selfweight of the concrete girder). The characteristic variable action is 32kN/m maximum. The girder design will be assuming the following: - Concrete density is 24kN/m3 - Characteristic concrete strength is 50N/mm2 - Design stress limits to Eurocode requirements - SLS load factor for Characteristic Combination ψ=1.0 - Prestress loss should be assumed to be 20% For the post-tensioned girder design, you will need to: 1. Determine the bending moment envelope taking into consideration all the load patterns necessary for the two-span girder design, with the given permanent and variable action. 2. For the worst-case moments (both sagging and hogging), determine the minimum section modulus requirement and suggest a suitable section.
