A differential on a 21-year-old male with an unidentified leukemia included many myeloblasts and promyelocytes. Occasional cells with Auer rods were seen. Some cells appeared to have bilobed nuclei with cytoplasmic projections. The cytochemical stain results were strongly positive for Sudan black B, AS-D chloroacetate esterase, but negative for the
\alpha -naphthyl butyrate esterase (nonspecific esterase). A bone marrow was done, and the predominant cell was the promyelocyte, some with multiple Auer rods. a. What is the most probable FAB classification of this leukemia? b. Should cytogenetics be done on this patient? Why or why not?
