a) Determine the number and dimensions (width, length, height) of rectangular pre-settlement ponds to be built to remove suspended solids. Check the suitability of the plant dimensions by making the necessary investigations in terms of hydraulic parameters. The exit from the sedimentation unit is via triangular weirs. Calculate the required number of weirs, weir opening, weir water height. Show the plan and section view of the sedimentation pool on its dimensions.
b) Design the quick sand filters in the facility. In this context, determine the number of filters and their dimensions (width - length - height and sections along the height). Assuming that backwashing with water will be done for 10 minutes and that 2 backwashing processes will be applied consecutively, determine the volume of the water tank to be used for backwashing a filter and the diameter of the backwash water pipe.
