Interpreting a slope as a rate of change [1.4] When interpreting a slope, it is much easier to recognize the correct interpretation from a multiple-choice question, than it is to give one. On tests, you will be asked to write it yourself. A correct answer to this instruction should use the relevant numbers (slope) with the correct units in a short sentence that explains the meaning. A correct answer will state something similar to "[y] is [increasing or decreasing] at a rate of [lm/y units] per [x units]", filling in the blanks according to each situation presented in the problem.
