The design of pier of Metro Manila Skyway Segment 3, along NLEX, SB, near Quirino Hi-Way Flyover is shown. Concrete dimensions at the ends are 1.2 m wide by 0.9 m total depth while at the interface of the pier (section x- x), the section has a width of 1.2 m and total depth of 1.5 m. It has an effective cantilever span of 3 m. It is post-tensioned with straight tendons whose centroid (cgs) is located 200 mm from the top of the pier. The prestress force immediately after the transfer of prestress is 2990 kN which is estimated to reduce, after development of all losses, to an effective value of 2390 kN. Assume tension stresses as positive and compression stresses as negative. 1. What is the value of the extreme top fiber stress at the free ends of the beam immediately after the transfer of prestress? 2. What is the value of the extreme bottom fiber stress at the free ends of the beam immediately after the transfer of prestress? 3. What is the value of the safe uniform total imposed load including its own weight that the beam could support to cause no tension in the section at the pier interface (section x-x) at final service load condition? 4. What is the value of the corresponding maximum compressive stress in the section at the pier interface at final service load condition? 1. in MPa (2 decimals) 2. in MPa (2 decimals) 3. in kN/m (2 decimals) 4. in MPa (2 decimals)
