The following consecutive readings from left to right were taken with an auto-level meter with intervals of 20 m. During the levelling process, the instrument has been moved after the third and eighth readings were taken. The first staff reading was obtained at the benchmark with a reduced level of 20.874 mReduce the readings by using Height of Collimation method and apply appropriate arithmetical checks.

Height of instrument/collimation is used for each setting of instrument by adding back sight to the elevation of the bench mark. Also, elevation of the change point of instrument point is then calculated by subtracting the fore sight from HI.
For next setting of instrument, HI.(height of collimation) is obtained by adding the Back sight on change point to its Reduced level and the process is continues till the last reduced level is found.
If there is any intermediate points(IS) then the reduced level of those is calculated by subtracting the intermediate sight from the height of collimation of that station.
