Why did Electrolux close its factory in Greenville, Michigan and move it to Juarez, Mexico? ("Not Just a Paycheck", Unnatural Causes, 2008 Electrolux saw an opportunity to provide meaningful work and economic development for the workers in Mexico. The demand for Electrolux products was dropping in the United States but increasing in Mexico. There were considerable cost-savings for the company associated with the move. (i.e. it lowered their costs by millions of dollars.) A new factory (Northland Refrigeration) had opened in Greenville, Michigan and Electrolux was unable to match their prices.
