Why must every economic system (tradition, command, or market) face the problem of scarcity? (Standard 1.2) There are never enough productive resources to satisfy all of society's wants. Every young economy faces scarcity, although older economies can overcome this problem. I have no idea what the answer is. All economic systems have depressions during which scarcity exist. There are times when scarcity can be overcome by reducing the opportunity cost.
