You are helping to coordinate stunts on a movie set. In one scene, the director wants a motorcycle to drive off the horizontal roof of a building onto the back of a flatbed truck. The closest end of the truck will be located 25 feet from the edge of the building and the bed of the truck is 3 feet above the ground. The building’s roof is 20 feet above the ground, but is only 30 feet wide, so you are not sure that the motorcycle will have enough room to get up to the speed necessary to make the jump. From earlier tests with the motorcycle, you know that over short distances, it can speed up with an acceleration of a[t] = At^1/2 where A = 4.0 m/s^5/2. Can this stunt be accomplished? I was having some trouble with the math of this problem and the fractional exponents. I was wondering if y'all could help explain how to solve this problem? Please and thank you.
